F-U Prius Drivers. Just when I thought it was all behind me…

A Prius Feel Good Picture
Well it was a great day until I got on the road to work. Usual traffic, blocked some ‘short cutters’ and then almost to the 405 Freeway ramp and a Prius tries to squeeze behind me to make a w-i-d-e right turn around me. Impatient Jerk. But due to his bad Prius Driving style (and of course attitude) he clips the back of the Excursion… Well not really, just the Trailer Hitch Ball. Nice!. Pulled over and guess what, looks like I the 2nd or 3rd try at a proper side swipe. Pissed off I looked and saw only the white ECO friendly paint and nothing bent or damage so I told the guy to hit the road and be more careful. He grumbled and went on his way. Now I’m really pissed because I’m way out of any chance of easily getting on the freeway, have to do some left turns in morning traffic and no way to get in line to the non-carpool lane. So I make the left on the 405 ramp and snake all the people that would not let me in. Just then I see a motocycle cop on the overpass pulling up to look for just that. Whew, just missed a dumb ticket. Well, now on my way. I arrive at work and with the Excursion. The underground parking has limited selection of big spots, and guess what, the only slot left are next to two Prius’s (or is that Pri-i or prisus?) well the gal that just parked next to where I was targeting did a lame parking job and was ‘over the line’. I wanted to cram the truck in to 4×4 mode and repeatidly push it into the cement wall then say ‘Sorry’ didn’t see your car.
On a good note, No damage to my truck, I didn’t get a ticket, and I held back on smashing up someones car because they are a poor parking Prius driver. I should get a lottery ticket now!

Removing Powder Coating
Posted on 07. Apr, 2009 by sandy.

I have been working on the Sunbeam Tigers front suspension and the spindles were powder coated but the masking on the seal surface was not so good. So need to remove some baked on plastic as it be. Looked around and didn’t find much except the ‘Commercial’ solutions.
I found this on the web, cut and pasted the text but can’t remember the dang site for credit. It was a motorcycle site and I thank them (would post a link if I could find it again)
The easiest and cheapest way to remove paint and powder coating is with gasket remover. The product we use in our shop is Permatex Gasket Remover (item #80646). It comes in a 12 ounce aerosol can which is more than enough to do even large projects like engine cases. It is available from most auto parts stores. Other products, such as Zip Strip paint remover, may also work, but the Permatex product is what we have had the most success with.
Simply spray on a liberal coating to the part you are trying to strip, and wait 10-15 minutes. Be sure not to get any on areas that you do not want stripped. Make sure to wear eye and skin protection as it can irritate both.
After 10-15 minutes, the powder coating will bubble and peel. Wipe off the gasket remover and loosened powder coating with a disposable rag. You may need to reapply as some areas will be missed the first time. That’s it! Your part should be stripped down to the bare metal. Make sure to wash with wax and grease remover before you try to repaint.
Well seems problem might be solved. I’ll give it a try and report back. I’m not a huge fan Powder coating, it does look nice and is durable, but sometimes a pain…
